Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra has been performing in Brighton for 99 years, and our concerts are for everyone. As we gear up for our centenary next year, come and join us for a wonderful season of music!

Wagner tubas, multiple anvils, a huge orchestra: Wagner’s epic Ring in 65 minutes, with Ligeti’s dreamy Atmosphères (from Kubrik’s Space Odyssey 2001) and Berio’s vital Folk Songs.

BPO’s 2022/23 season closes with a programme moving into the light: from Barber’s pathos to Beethoven’s shout of joy, featuring leader Ruth Rogers and Principal Cello Peter Adams.
Venetian polychoral music by Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli rubs shoulders with The Farthest Shore, a dramatic oratorio written by contemporary composer Paul Mealor, who rocketed to fame when his music was performed at the Royal Wedding in 2011.

Frank Martin’s Trio on Popular Irish Tunes deftly weaves traditional melodies, creating an Irish medley with character and affection. Shostakovich’s 1944 piano trio – brilliant, and dark – is permeated with klezmer. The second half is filled with the warmth and grandeur of Brahms’s great Piano Quintet.
