We’re delighted to welcome you to the BPO’s exciting new season, curated by our CEO and Music Director, Joanna MacGregor CBE. Over nine performances at Brighton Dome, we’re bringing together symphonic greats, jazz collaborations, visual arts, choral works and world-class soloists.

You’ll hear orchestral giants – Sibelius, Stravinsky and Shostakovich – alongside Oscar-nominated Jonny Greenwood and Arvo Pärt. We’re joined by Nigel Kennedy, playing both Beethoven and Jimi Hendrix in our season finale. Before that, hear jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth singing Kurt Weill in our Valentine’s Day tribute to music’s ‘bad girls’, Dutch trumpeter Eric Vloeimans performing a new commission, and young pianists Khrystnya Mykhailichenko and Milda Daunoraite play Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky.

Joanna MacGregor takes to the piano alongside Vloeimans, as well as performing Beethoven’s Concerto no. 4, and joining the Christmas festivities with Alistair McGowan, bringing Dickens’ Christmas Carol to four venues across Sussex including its debut in Alfriston.

Brighton Festival Chorus join for a performance of John Adams’ Harmonium, with their female singers also performing alongside soprano Elizabeth Watts in Vaughan Williams’ score, Sinfonia antartica, with visuals from Kathy Hinde. And for those quick to book, there are a few seats remaining for our Brighton Festival appearance, performing Shostakovich Symphony no. 10 in a screening of William Kentridge’s film, Oh to Believe in Another World.
