The orchestra was delighted to welcome several hundred families to Brighton Dome on Sunday morning as the culmination of this season’s education project. The children were entranced by the sound and sight of a full orchestra playing live classical music. Nicolas Chisholm, MBE, Chairman of BHPS, welcomed them at the start of the rehearsal, introducing the musicians and their instruments, and the music they would be playing.
He was delighted with the popularity and success of the Open Rehearsal saying: “We received so many comments from parents, but for me the highlight was in the concert interval itself when two bright eyed children came up to me to thank us all for giving them such an unforgettable experience. They had been to both the rehearsal and the concert itself. They agreed that it would be something that they would always remember.”
The Society is most grateful to those Friends of the Phil who gave up their Sunday morning to assist in the smooth running of this event.
A gallery of images taken by the Brighton Phil’s professional photographer David Gerrard and his wife Jean, as well as photos taken by parents and volunteers, will appear here shortly.
