Springboard winners 2017

We are delighted that a pair of season tickets to the BPO’s next season, and the opportunity to attend a rehearsal and meet the orchestra, were won by two talented young musicians in this year’s Springboard Festival: Berniya Hamie (cello & piano) and Natasha O’Flynn (viola & piano) both aged 14.

Berniya played the first movement of Grieg’s Piano Concerto to win the 14 & Under Concerto Class and won the Junior Piano Recital Class and the Christine Pembridge Cup playing the first movement of Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No.6, Op.10, No.2 and Liszt’s La Leggierezza.

Natasha won the Romantic Piano Class with a performance of Chopin’s Waltz in C Sharp Minor, Op.64, No.2 and also played a Tchaikovsky Nocturne in the Senior Piano Class winning the Doris Waymark Award (the Adjudicators’ Choice Cup).

We look forward to seeing them both at our concerts in the Dome next season and to following their musical careers with interest.
