Brighton Phil violinist Melanie Hornsby is asking people to sponsor her sister Emma Lee who will be running in two marathons (London & Berlin) in 2018 to raise money for the wonderful charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
”Having originally been diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2010 it was devastating to discover in March 2017 that my cancer had returned, spread and I was therefore dealing with secondary cancers for which I could not be ‘cured’.
This was obviously a terrifying time both for myself, my husband, my two young sons and my family and friends. From the very first point of diagnosis however, I was greeted with a team of reassuring nurses from Macmillan.
In the intervening 9 months, Macmillan have been with me and my family every step of the way. They have taught me how to live with cancer, they have enabled me to feel hope and most importantly helped me to continue to be a Mummy and wife to the most incredible man and boys I know.
I am writing to ask you to support my amazing sister, Emma, who is taking on the challenge of running two marathons (London and Berlin) to raise money for Macmillan. Em’s an incredible inspiration to me and, along with the rest of my wonderful family, has given me such support.
We all know someone affected by cancer and also supported by Macmillan. Please dig as deep as you can. We need this incredible charity to continue to thrive so that it can continue to help families, just like mine, long after I am gone.”
