Rehearsing at Henry Wood Hall: Sat 2 December

Concert Manager Ian Brignall reports that today’s rehearsal at Henry Wood Hall, with pianist Melvyn Tan joining the Brighton Phil and conductor Barry Wordsworth, went extremely well – despite the fire alarm going off and the Fire Brigade turning up part-way through! Luckily the culprit was just some burnt toast in the canteen, so all the highly combustible sheet music, musicians and their precious instruments are safe.

Conductor Barry Wordsworth was delighted with the rehearsal and is really looking forward to tomorrow’s concert at Brighton Dome, saying:

“The Ravel is one of my favourite piano concertos as it shows the genius of this great composer to perfection, and with a soloist we will be so proud to have with us again in Brighton. Three masterworks of the most contrasting mood and character will make up a wonderful afternoon of symphonic music.”

Tickets for the concert, which takes us on a journey from the sun-drenched Italian Riviera to the jazz clubs of pre-war America courtesy of three great Romantic composers: Elgar, Ravel & Rachmaninov, are available from Brighton Dome Ticket Office priced from £12-38 (50% student/Under 18 discount).

Discounted parking (just £6 between 1pm & 6pm) is available at NCP Church Street Car Park for BPO concert ticket holders. Simply collect a follow-on ticket at the concert to reduce the (normally eye-watering) cost of parking in the centre of the city.

Tickets are available over the counter, by telephone (01273) 7909709 and can also be purchased online from: https://brightondome.org/event/14661/brighton_philharmonic_orchestra/
