Early Bird 2009-2010

Welcome to the BPO's 85th concert season

I am always very excited at this time of the year when we are able to show you the Early Bird presentation of our concerts for next season and especially this season, as this is the first sight you will have of the plans that Judith and I have been working on since her appointment. Despite the financial constraints, I am convinced we have found a series of programmes that is as exciting, and intriguing as you have come to expect. We have a wonderful roster of brilliant soloists, some new faces to Brighton alongside musicians for whom you have shown so much enthusiasm in past seasons. Every concert has some special feature worthy of mention, but highlights for me will be the opening concert with Vasko Vassilev, Concert Master at The Royal Opera House, the Beethoven concerts around the change of the year, The Tomasi Concerto with Peter Moore and Stephen Bell, but as I say all of them are equally important listening, and there is another party celebration planned for the final concert to include the Bagpipes (possibly a first in the Dome) in an atmospheric and very amusing work by The Master of the Queen’s Music.
