Alice Farnham is fast becoming a familiar name in the worlds of opera and dance, with appearances at the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, English National Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, English Touring Opera and the European Chamber Opera.

Appropriately, the dance-like incidental music to Rosamunde and the rich, romantic 'orchestral song' that is the Siegfried Idyll - based on a love theme Wagner later incorporated into the 'Ring' cycle - form the first half of her concert.

She is joined by Belgian cellist David Cohen for the 'Rococo Variations'; inspired by Mozart, this is Tchaikovsky at his most elegant and refined. By contrast, Mozart's own 39th symphony (the first of his final three - commonly regarded as the pinnacle of his symphonic achievements) is one of his most dramatic, from the grand statements of its opening, to the excitable, exhilarating finale.
