Rachmaninov
Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor

Dvorak
Symphony No.9 in E minor 'From the New World'

Barry Wordsworth conductor

Principal Conductor of the BPO since 1989, Conductor Laureate of the BBC Concert Orchestra and Music Director of the Royal Ballet, Barry Wordsworth begins his 60th Birthday Concert in Brighton with a hand-picked selection from one of his favourite ballets: Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.

The BPO’s President, John Lill, joins the celebration with that most romantic and iconic of piano concertos: Rachmaninov’s ‘heart on his sleeve’ second.

The concert also rounds off the BPO’s season of symphonies with Dvořák’s last, a marriage of old world symphonic tradition and new world-influenced melodies; looking both forward and back, and gloriously triumphant, no other symphony could be more fitting for such an occasion!

Tickets £7 - £24 (Click here to book online)

5.00pm The Birthday Party: Join Barry Wordsworth, John Lill and the BPO for champagne, canapés and more live music. (Tickets £5. Available only when booking concert tickets.)
