BPO in the news

I-LOVE-BPO

STOP PRESS: An interview with the BPO’s Conductor Laureate Barry Wordsworth appeared in The Argus on Saturday 10 October on page 16, whilst a short preview of the new season was in The Guide in the previous day’s (Friday 9 October) edition.  You can read them via the links below:

A radio interview with the BPO’s Chairman, Nicolas Chisholm, MBE, is currently being broadcast on the latest At Home This Morning, a fortnightly radio programme on Radio Reverb.  Broadcast dates/times are Sun 11 Oct at 8am, Tue 13 at 11am and Thu 15 at 9am. The interview starts about 16 minutes into the programme.  If you miss it, you can “catch up” on-line from the website – see details below:

A preview of the first half of BPO’s 91st concert season was featured on September’s At Home This MorningThe preview starts about 19 minutes into the programme (which lasts one hour). It includes the third movement of Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, which Gemma Rosefield will perform with us on Sunday 8 November, and ends with the third movement of Kalinnikov’s Symphony No.1, which will close our first concert of the season on Sunday 11 October. If you are not familiar with this wonderfully tuneful Russian piece, it was worth tuning in just for that. A Friend of the Phil recently said the work is “the best Russian symphony that Borodin never wrote”.

If you missed the broadcasts, you will be able to “catch up” at a later date.  Go to the website:  www.olderpeoplescouncil.org/athomethismorning.html and click on “September 2015 Programme A” for the season preview or “October 2015 Programme A” for the interview.  Please note they may not be available until a few days after their last transmission date.
